New Trails Now Open
The Village of Ruidoso Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the opening of five new miles of trails on Moon Mountain. These trails are designed for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds and are rated as moderately difficult, making them accessible for various skill levels. Hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrian riders are all welcome to explore these new additions.
Scenic Beauty and Wildlife
Moon Mountain offers stunning vistas and a chance to observe local wildlife. Visitors may encounter turkeys, deer, and elk along the trails, adding to the scenic and exciting experience.
Trail Access
The new trails can be accessed from the trailhead located at 501 Gavilan Canyon Road. For a safe and enjoyable outing, please keep the following tips in mind:
Wear Comfortable Hiking Shoes: The trails are moderately difficult, so sturdy footwear is essential.
Bring Snacks and Plenty of Fluids: Staying hydrated and energized is crucial when exploring the outdoors.
Respect the Environment: Help us keep Moon Mountain beautiful by following the Leave No Trace principles. Remove all trash and respect wildlife habitats.
