Moon Mountain Open Space provides over 600 acres to explore nature. Visitors have the amazing opportunity to view wildlife in their natural habitat. But with that privilege comes responsibility. It is important to remember to treat wildlife with proper caution and respect. The safety of the animals, as well as your safety, depends on it. Learn how to be a wildlife-friendly visitor.

Moon Mountains’ Disc Golf Course is a high Alpine championship level course, with an 18 hole par of 63 at 8,072 feet for short pin and par 65 at 8,970 feet for long pins. This course was designed by 2010 world champion. Eric McCabe, and installed by Rugged Ridge. Hole number 17 is currently the longest disc golf hole in New Mexico. Moon Mountain was truly designed as a championship level course including long up-hill distance and strategic placement shots— this course will challenge you and your skills.

Ruidoso Trails Project Update

The following reports summarize project scope and status for the Ruidoso Trails Project consisting of the construction a new Cree Meadows Trail on the north side of Cree Meadows Drive from Mechem (NM 48) to the Links Trail; the rehabilitation of the existing Links Trail around the Links at Sierra Blanca golf course, and the creation of multi-use recreation trails at Moon Mountain Recreation Area.
